Southern Baptist Disaster Relief, of which Mississippi Baptist Disaster Relief is a part, has already begun responding to the Nepal earthquake of April 25. Local believers trained by Southern Baptist personnel are assessing the damage and the human needs created by this Richter Scale 7.8 magnitude event.

Baptist Global Response (BGR) coordinates Southern Baptist international disaster response. The 42 state Baptist conventions making up Southern Baptist Disaster Relief in general, and Mississippi Baptist Disaster Relief in particular, stand ready to assist those affected when requested by response coordinators.

Southern Baptist Disaster Relief has a long-term focus. Needs of those affected are both immediate and long-term. We do not self-deploy, but seek to be a part of the coordinated effort to bring Help, Healing, and Hope to those affected.

For up-to-date information from Baptist Global Response, visit the website gobgr.org. Those who have been trained and qualified for disaster relief response and are interested in being mobilized should Mississippi Baptist Disaster Relief be asked to send teams, please send contact information to the following email: dgann@mbcb.org
