Directions, the weekly article that has appeared in The Baptist Record for 21 years, is now a book. A book with a directional thought for each day throughout the twelve months. Through the years, so many of you have requested that I put Directions together so that you would have them in book form, and now it is available. The book is a composite of 366 Directions columns, so that there is one for each day even on Leap Year. They are in somewhat calendar form so all you need to know is what day it is. Hopefully the Lord will use that particular day’s thought to provide a moment of inspiration, encouragement, and direction that you need.
The book is made possible by the wonderful ladies at the Mississippi Baptist Convention Board who have worked hard through the years to help get this article ready for print every week; the help of the Executive Committee whose gracious support made it possible for the book to be published; and hundreds of you who have written, called, spoken with me when I have been in your churches or at a special event encouraging me to put these articles together. To all of you, thank you.
If you would like to purchase the book, you can do so through Blue Mountain College. The cost is $25 per book with all the proceeds going to fund the Jim Futral Endowed Professorship in Biblical Studies and Preaching at Blue Mountain College, which is affiliated with the Mississippi Baptist Convention and is where I received my undergraduate degree.
The $25 and any additional gifts will go directly to that endowment that will be used to touch, teach, and train future generations of preachers and teachers, missionaries and ministers to share the Good News of Jesus with the entire world.
How can you order the book? Call Kayce Bragg in the Alumni Affairs Office at Blue Mountain College at (662) 685-4771 ext. 119, or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org. Alternatively, you may contact Maria Teel at the Baptist Building (601) 292-3201 or email@example.com.
We have a limited number of books so if you want to get one, now is the time.
While I am certainly not a professional writer, it has been my joy to share this journey with so many of you as we have looked at the directions of life we have faced with the weekly edition of the Directions column. Hopefully it has been an encouraging love note that shed some light for some of your steps. In the near future, I will write my final Directions column but I will never stop thinking about all of you who have made my directions be filled with joy, love, and grace all through the years.
May God bless each of you and may He richly bless the future of the Mississippi Baptist Convention.
