Welcome to the Mississippi Baptist Convention Board Prayer website! We invite you to browse through the Prayer Resource Guide for information and inspiration on prayer. The purpose of this website is to motivate individuals, churches, associations and state conventions to make prayer a precursor for ministry.
Prayer was a high priority in the life of Jesus. Whether early in the morning, throughout the day, or late into the night the scriptures indicate Jesus spent time in prayer. It was the power behind His life. The Savior began and finished His earthly ministry in prayer (Matt. 4; Luke 23:46). Today, the Lord is still praying for us (John 17:20).
Through prayer Jesus experienced a loving relationship with His heavenly Father. Prayer guided His ministry, aided Him in Satan’s temptations and comforted Him in distress. Intercession with the Father gave Him the strength to pay our sin debt. Again and again we find Jesus relying on prayer for fulfilling God’s will for His life. The Prayer Resource guide is designed to assist us in our effort to effectively communicate with the heavenly Father. If prayer was a priority with Jesus, then it must be with us.
Our theme for 2011 is Covering Mississippi in Prayer (Acts 1:14). Please join us as we pursue spiritual awakening, renewal, and a greater intensity in prayer throughout Mississippi.
