Natural Church Development

Research has found that healthy, growing churches seem to share eight quality characteristics. These characteristics are:

  1. Empowering Leadership
  2. Gift-oriented Ministry
  3. Passionate Spirituality
  4. Functional Structures
  5. Inspiring Worship Service
  6. Holistic Small Groups
  7. Need-oriented Evangelism
  8. Loving Relationship

The church can only grow as far as their “minimum factor”, which is the lowest of the eight quality characteristics in the church. The Natural Church Development Survey has been developed so that, when administered to the pastor and thirty actively involved lay people, it identifies the minimum factor of the church. A church then develops a strategy to raise the quality of the minimum factor. The church focuses on unlocking the potential that God has already put into every church.
