Mississippi Baptist All-State Youth Choir and Orchestra

The Mississippi Baptist All-State Youth Choir and Orchestra was organized in 1993 by the Church Music Department of the Mississippi Baptist Convention Board under the leadership of Susan Clark Luttrell, youth music consultant, and L. Graham Smith, department director.

The choir is made up of 9th – 12th graders who are chosen through a personal audition and interview process conducted in seven locations across the state, September through November each year. Each choir and orchestra member must be an active participant in the music ministry of their local Southern Baptist Mississippi church and recommended by their pastor, school teachers, and minister of music.

The choir was featured in the opening session of the 1996 Church Music Week at Ridgeland Baptist Conference Center and the 1999 Southern Baptist Church Music Conference in Nashville.

In 2003 the choir and orchestra made a concert tour/mission trip to Maryland and Delaware.

James Meaders, Mississippi College, Clinton, Mississippi, is the choral director.
