About Us

Personal service, passionate stewardship, and purposeful servanthood are perhaps the best ways to describe the Business Services division of the Mississippi Baptist Convention Board. As one will discover from reviewing the various reports found in this section*, our heart’s desire is to serve the Lord by serving His Church and serving in His Name. The Office of Business Services is responsible for the following Convention Board assignments: accounting, auditing, The Baptist Record, communications, disaster relief, encampments, insurance, investments, legal issues, policy matters, personnel issues, public relations, retirement, technologies, and the management of all Convention-owned real and personal properties (Baptist Building, BSU Centers, and Camp Sites).

Financial markets worldwide have been extremely volatile over the past several years and 2010 has followed a similar pattern. This fiscal rollercoaster has reminded all of us that we are to place our trust in Jehovah-Jireh, God our Provider, as opposed to our provisions. Keep in mind that a challenging economy certainly does not alter our charge to share the Gospel. Possibly, now more than ever, individuals, families, churches, associations, and state conventions must cooperate and concentrate our efforts on reaching the world for Christ. In many ways, focusing on efficiencies and effectiveness has affirmed our long held belief that when we pray for wisdom, God grants it and when God directs a ministry, He will supply everything needed to accomplish that task.

Much discussion and perhaps a bit of confusion have set in recently regarding “missions giving” by Southern Baptists. Discussion and debate can prove healthy and productive as we continue to focus our financial approach (the Cooperative Program), based on God-lead and God-honoring investments in His Kingdom work. God’s faithfulness to His people has not changed and we resolve to remain faithful to His call! In fact, most Mississippi Baptists that I know aren’t confused at all. They give and they go, all for His Glory and for His Kingdom growth! A simple review of the Convention Board’s audited financial statements (also found in this Book of Reports*) will reveal that the true heartbeat of Mississippi Baptists is MISSIONS. Thank you Mississippi Baptists for your faithfulness in giving to the Lord through the most efficient and effective missions support method in Christian history, the Cooperative Program. Your leadership and partnership in the ministry is making a difference in Mississippi and around the world!
